A Soldier's Promise

It was many miles away from home I made my final stand,
I was proud to do my duty in that distant foreign land.
We stood our ground together, my comrades five and I,
Now we six share paradise, but you know we did not die.

Because you do not see me does not mean I am not there,
Although you cannot hear me it doesn't mean that I don't care,
Look in your heart and in your mind, the memories you will find, the times we'll always share,
You need not look too hard, for I will still be there.

A familiar smell, a certain sound
And you will know I'm still around
I'll give you strength if you should need it to help you cope with strife,
We'll always be together as you make your way through life.

Don't be afraid to face things, you won't be on your own,
I'll be there beside you, you will not be alone.
I'll be there on a cloudless night shining down to show I care,
I'll keep you safe and if you look, you'll see me smiling there.

When e'r your thoughts should turn to me, my thoughts will be of you,
You will not be alone in life, my promise will be true,
The love we have lives on, though the spirit may be free,
Our love binds us together for all eternity.
